UGC usage rights tracked per asset, channel and term

UgcProduction sets UGC usage rights in the brief and attaches them to every delivered asset: rights term, channels, paid usage, and whitelisting or Spark Ads permission. Brands and agencies get a licence PDF per asset and reminders before a term expires, so no ad keeps running on rights that have ended. The usage rights manager is included on every plan.

Plan my production

UGC licensing without spreadsheets and screenshots

A creator who films an ad owns the footage until a licence says otherwise. Most rights problems start small: a term agreed in a DM, a channel nobody wrote down, a paid usage clause that covered organic posts only. Months later the ad is still scaling and nobody can show what the creator agreed to. UgcProduction moves the terms into the brief, so the creator accepts them before filming and the record stays with the asset. The licence is issued at the Approved stage of the UGC services board, and creators on the UGC marketplace see the terms before they apply.

  1. 1 Terms visible to the creator before they apply to the brief
  2. 2 One licence record per asset, not per production
  3. 3 Every change logged against the asset it refers to

Usage rights terms set in every brief

The brief builder asks for the rights the brand needs, and the casting shows them to every creator next to the fee. Creators set their own rates, and wider rights usually come with a higher fee, so the brand sees the trade-off up front.

  • Rights term

    What it defines
How long the brand may use the asset, for example 3, 6 or 12 months, or a custom term
  • Channels

    What it defines
Where the asset may run, such as TikTok, Meta, YouTube Shorts, Instagram, Amazon, website and email
  • Paid usage

    What it defines
Whether the brand may run the asset as a paid ad, not only post it organically
  • Whitelisting

    What it defines
Whether the brand may run ads from the creator handle on Meta
  • Spark Ads permission

    What it defines
Whether the brand may boost the creator post on TikTok
  • Edits and variants

    What it defines
Whether the brand may cut hook swaps, captions and new aspect ratios from the footage
  • Raw footage

    What it defines
Whether raw files are delivered and how they may be used

Whitelisting and Spark Ads permission for creator handles

Ads that run from the creator handle often feel more native than ads from the brand page. That requires extra permission from the creator, separate from the right to use the footage. UgcProduction records it as its own term on the licence, with the platform and the period, and keeps it next to the asset so the media buyer knows exactly what is allowed. Whitelisting and Spark Ads permissions are on Growth, Scale and Enterprise. The full walkthrough is in the guide on Spark Ads and whitelisting.

  1. Meta whitelisting recorded with term and channels
  2. TikTok Spark Ads permission recorded with its period
  3. Both shown on the licence PDF for the asset

Expiry reminders before a rights term ends

A rights term ends on a date, but ads do not stop by themselves. UgcProduction sends reminders before each term expires, and on Growth and up, where ad accounts are connected for performance tagging, the reminder shows whether the asset is still in a running ad. The team then decides to pause the ad, renew the licence with the creator or replace the creative.

  1. Reminders to the owner and the strategist of the brand workspace
  2. List of assets expiring in the coming weeks per brand
  3. Renewal request to the creator from the asset card
  4. Clear status for expired assets, so nobody reuses them by mistake

A licence PDF per asset

When the brand approves a cut, the escrow payout goes to the creator and UgcProduction issues a licence PDF for that asset. It lists the asset, the creator, the brand workspace, the term with start and end dates, the channels, paid usage, whitelisting or Spark Ads permission and the edit rights. The PDF is stored next to the delivered file, so legal, finance and the media buyer read the same document. Enterprise adds a legal review export for all assets at once. UGC usage rights questions

The creator grants the brand a licence for the asset with the term, channels and permissions set in the brief. The licence PDF records exactly what the brand may do, and the brand can request a renewal or wider rights from the asset card.

Yes. Every plan includes rights terms, expiry reminders and a licence PDF per asset. Whitelisting and Spark Ads permissions start on Growth, and Enterprise adds a legal review export.

UgcProduction sends reminders before the end date and marks the asset as expired afterwards. You can renew the licence with the creator or replace the creative with a new production.

No. The licence PDF records the terms the brand and the creator agreed in the brief. Teams with specific legal needs review those terms with their own counsel, and Enterprise exports all licences for that review.
